Making Jesus Known Through Stories

About

Why we created the prize

In today’s literary landscape, opportunities for Christian writing are growing, yet they remain comparatively limited. For many Christian writers, the journey can feel isolating—not because their stories lack depth or relevance, but because there are still fewer spaces intentionally designed to support and showcase faith-rooted work.

The Neriv Christian Fiction Prize was born out of that opportunity.

When we began writing, we longed for a place where Christian writers were not only encouraged but meaningfully supported and given room to grow without having to separate their faith from their craft. A place where faith-rooted storytelling is recognised as a vibrant and essential part of the broader literary world.

Writing has shaped our lives in ways we could never have predicted. This prize is our way of giving back by creating an avenue for others to discover how writing can become an integral part of their own journey.

This prize exists to provide a platform for Christian writers. A home. A light that continues to shine even beyond darkness.

What The Prize Is

The Neriv Christian Fiction Prize is a literary award for writers who desire to make God known through story. Our name comes from the Hebrew word ner, meaning “lamp,” drawn from Psalm 119:105: ‘Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.’

We believe God can be revealed through fiction: through characters who struggle, who love imperfectly, who suffer genuinely, and who, in the midst of it all, find just enough light to keep moving.

We are not looking for sermons. We are looking for stories that make Christ known.
